ST. CHARLES – Despite the Downtown St. Charles Partnership going through changes in the past year – including relocating to the St. Charles Municipal Building at 2 E. Main St. – the group’s mission hasn’t changed.
“We want the downtown to be a strong, vibrant hub of commercial activity,” St. Charles Partnership Executive Director Lynne Schwartz said Wednesday during the group’s annual meeting.
The partnership hopes to create that vibrancy with a variety of activities, including a new program called STC Live that pairs live entertainment with local businesses.
The program kicked off Wednesday.
“We already have a great entertainment district,” said Scott Piner, the Downtown Partnership’s marketing and development manager.
“We want to build on this. It is a way for people to experience what is already downtown.”
For example, guitarist Jim Perona played at Biggby Coffee on Wednesday, and guitarist Kristin McFadden performed at Kimmer’s Ice Cream.
STC Live will be Wednesday and Friday evenings through the summer.
The partnership also recently launched a new video showcasing the downtown as a family-friendly place, and continues to provide small group training to businesses, such as providing information on how to set up a Facebook page.
The Downtown Partnership also remains fiscally strong.
As of April 30, the partnership had a surplus of $55,101, according to unaudited figures.
“Revenues are pretty much on target,” said Downtown Partnership Treasurer Chris Woelffer.
