Paintballs hit St. Charles fire vehicles

ST. CHARLES – A man test-firing paint guns in his backyard was unaware the paintballs were landing on vehicles parked at St. Charles Fire Station 3, according to a St. Charles Police Department report.

A lieutenant with the fire station at 2901 Campton Hills Drive, St. Charles, reported the incident to police on Saturday, explaining the paintballs hit several fire apparatuses and personal vehicles parked at the station's rear, according to the report.

None of the vehicles were damaged, police reported.

Fire officials reportedly traced the paintballs' path past a large tree line and to a residence in the 200 block of Tower Hill Road.

Police talked to the resident by phone, who said he repairs paint guns and was test-firing them into what he thought was a wooded area behind his house, police reported.

He reportedly told police he was unaware the paintballs were hitting vehicles at the fire station until fire officials notified him of that.

Police reported the man apologized and said that he will now test the guns in his garage.
