Face time with Rick Hornstrom

St. Charles resident Rick Hornstrom, 41, was at Kehoe “Rocket Ship” Park in St. Charles with his children when he answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.

Where did you grow up? Schaumburg

Pets? A Pomeranian-mutt named J.J., a cat named Forrest Gimp – we found him in the forest with a broken leg – and a corn snake named Crusher.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? John Cusack

First job? Making pizzas at Mario’s Homestyle Pizza on Weathersfield Way and Roselle Road.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a football player. I became a salesman instead.

A book or movie you’d recommend? “The Avengers” and the book would be “It’s Your Ship: Management Techniques from the Best Damn Ship in the Navy” by D. Michael Abrashoff.

What game show would you be on? “Wipeout”

Favorite charity? Royal Family Kids, a charity for the local foster care system. They take about 55 kids up to Lake Geneva, Wis., for a week of a somewhat normal life and a life filled with love. The chapter here we are involved with is Chapter 127. That is where my wife is this week.

Favorite local restaurant? ZaZa’s Italian Steakhouse in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? My wife’s uncle Merritt Yohnka is a stunt coordinator in Hollywood. He won two Emmys for the TV show “Chuck.”
