Batavia investigating source of power outage

BATAVIA – Batavia officials still are trying to determine what caused a widespread power outage early Sunday.

The outage occurred at 12:46 a.m. Sunday, Batavia electric superintendent Robert Rogde said.

The outage affected the city’s northeast side, far southeast portion and some of the city’s west side.

By 1:35 a.m., most of the residential customers who were affected had their power restored, and most of the affected industrial customers had their power restored by 1:49 a.m., Rogde said.

“The guys did a great job,” he said. “They got it back on real fast.”
