ST. CHARLES – The annual St. Charles Fourth of July celebration includes activities throughout the day, ending with a fireworks extravaganza that will best be seen from Pottawatomie Park and Ferson Creek Park.
Ferson Creek Park is on Route 31, east of Wildrose Springs Drive, St. Charles.
Pottawatomie Park, located at North Avenue and North Second Avenue in St. Charles, will open at 8 a.m. July 4 with picnic tables available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Patrons are strongly encouraged to bring their own tables, blankets and lawn chairs.
Picnic-style offerings – hot dogs, bratwurst, ice cream, popcorn and soft drinks – will be available for purchase from the River View Miniature Golf concessions, which will be open until 9:15 p.m.
River View Miniature Golf Course will open at 9 a.m., and the last tee off will be at 7 p.m.
The 18-hole course is $6 for ages 16 and older, $5 for children and $2 for those 5 and younger.
Swanson Pool is set to open at noon for park district residents and season pass holders and at 12:30 p.m. for nonresidents.
Daily admission fee is $7 for residents and $10 for nonresidents. Pool closes at 6 p.m.
No cutoffs or street clothing are allowed in the pool.
The Fox Valley Concert Band will perform from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in the amphitheater, and Red Woody will be on stage in the historical pavilion from 6 p.m. to dark.
In the event of inclement weather, the fireworks will be scheduled for the next clear evening.
