Kane County Fair annouces first-round contest finalists

ST. CHARLES – More than 30 talented young people participated in the Kane County Fair Talent Contest on June 15 at St. Patrick School in St. Charles.

There were 19 contestants, 10 acts in the junior division, and nine acts in the senior division that are now set to compete in the 30th annual Kane County Fair Talent Contest as part of a “A Pre–Fair-Talent Contest Showcase” at 7 p.m. July 15 in the Prairie Events Center, at the Kane County Fairgrounds located at Randall Road and Route 64 in St. Charles.

Those interested in attending the free event should enter at Gate 2 on Miller Road behind the Fairgrounds.

The first place finalists of the Kane County Fair Talent Contest this year will move  on to automatically represent Kane County on Jan. 18, 2014, at the Illinois Association of Agricultural Fairs Official Talent Contest State of Illinois competition in Springfield.

“We were very pleased with the large number of audition participants this year, and the judges were highly impressed with the quality and caliber of talent in our community,” Larry Rossi, coordinator of the talent contest, said in a news release.“This year we were strong in a variety of musical and dance talent.”
The first-round participants moving on to the 2013 Kane County Fair Talent Contest include:

Contestants will be judged on technique, stage presentation, audience appeal and appearance. Cash prizes will be awarded in each division. The first-place prize is $200; second place is $125; and third place is $75. All other finalists will receive $20 per act.

Attendees to the Kane County Fair on July 20 can stop by the Main Stage at 3 p.m. to see the contestants perform.

The annual contest is open to any person or group (school or organization) residing in Kane County.
