NORTH AURORA – Run-A-Way restaurant in North Aurora is carrying on the tradition started by Ernie McCann’s Tavern and Uncle Pat’s for tasty food in a comfortable setting.

Run-A-Way recently opened at 120 Butterfield Road in North Aurora, in the building that formerly housed Ernie McCann’s and Uncle Pat’s. With its open dining room, Run-A-Way might be the perfect place to gather with friends to watch a game or two.

Burgers, hot dogs, subs and fried chicken are just some of the items on Run-A-Way’s menu. The most expensive item on the menu is the New York Strip Steak dinner at $12.95, a good thing for those looking for a reasonably priced restaurant.

I decided to try the Philly cheesesteak on French bread, with a side order of mushrooms. Believe me when I tell you that Run-A-Way doesn’t skimp on portions. My cheesesteak was filled to the point of bursting with thick chunks of steak, along with a plentiful supply of peppers and cheese.

The meat was tender, but not too tender, and the French bread provided robust flavor to the sandwich.
The side order of mushrooms – which also were fresh and full of flavor. My wife agreed, adding she liked the buttery taste.

Run-A-Way is open from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Mondays through Fridays, 10 a.m. to
9 p.m. Saturdays and 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sundays.
