Relay For Life event set at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark

GENEVA – The American Cancer Society Relay For Life event for the Tri-Cities is set to run from 6 p.m. today through 6 a.m. Saturday at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, 34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva.

According to a news release, as of Tuesday, 733 participants and 76 teams had been registered, and $161,109 had been raised.

Among the highlights of the event will be:

• 4 to 6 p.m. today: Survivor dinner

• 5 to 8:30 p.m.: Kids activities

• 6 p.m.: Opening ceremony, survivor lap, caregiver lap and team lap

• 7 to 8:30 p.m.: Caregiver coffeehouse

• 7:30 p.m.: Disney lap

• 8 p.m.: Water balloon toss

• 8:30 p.m.: In memory of lap

• 9 p.m.: Luminaria ceremony

• 9:30 p.m.: Fireworks

• 10 p.m.: Mr. and Miss relay begins

• 10:30 p.m.: Classic dance lap

• 11:30 p.m.: Fight back ceremony

• Midnight: Wing-eating contest

• 12:30 a.m.: “Birthday party” for challenge winners

• 1 a.m.: Scavenger hunt

• 1:30 a.m.: Five-legged race

• 2 to 3 a.m.: Bead lap

• 2 a.m.: Uno tournament

• 2:30 a.m.: Hula hoop contest

• 3:30 a.m.: Celebrity lap

• 4 a.m.: Morning yoga

• 5 a.m.: Bob Carroll pancake breakfast, provided by Elburn Boy Scout Troop 7. Carroll was a member of the Relay For Life planning committee

• 5:30 a.m.: Closing ceremony
