BATAVIA – Classic cars will help drive visitors to Batavia’s downtown on the Fourth of July.
The Fourth of July Firecracker Classic Car Show will be in the parking lots on North Island Avenue in front of Aliano’s Ristorante, Bulldogs Red Hots and Batavia Creamery. The restaurants are hosting the car show.
“People should be able to see all kinds of cars from the 1930s up to the 1980s,” said Batavia resident Ron Clark, who is helping organize the show for the group Old Gold Cruisers.
Registration is from 9 a.m. to noon, and awards will be presented at about 3 p.m. There is a $20 participation fee. Awards will be presented for top 10, best of show, popular feature car and other categories.
Pets and alcohol are not allowed.
There also will be a 50/50 raffle, with all the proceeds going to The Pediatric Oncology Treasure Chest Foundation, a nonprofit organization dedicated to providing comfort to children and teens who have been diagnosed with cancer.
“Old Gold Cruisers has raised more than $62,000 to date for local charities,” Clark said.
Those who attend the show should enter on Houston Street behind the McDonald’s restaurant.
