Face Time with Charlotte St. John
Sugar Grove resident Charlotte St. John, 21, was at the Sugar Grove Farmers Market with her father, Paul, when she answered 12 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Al Lagattolla. The farmers market takes place each Saturday morning during the summer months at Route 30 and Municipal Drive in Sugar Grove.
How long have you been doing this? I was 7 or 8 when I started doing the farmers market.
Where did you grow up? Boulder Hill
Do you have any pets? Besides the cats, I guess the cows are kind of pets. We’ve got cows and sheep.
Who would play you in the movie of your life? George Takei, I love that guy.
What was your first job? Working on the farm
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A farmer, just like my grandma. It’s been my life.
Is there a movie or a TV show you would recommend? “Legend of the Seeker.” It’s a TV series.
Do you have any favorite charities? Rover Rescue and also 4-H
What do you specialize in? Mostly, it’s the eggs. That’s how we got started. My grandmother had a half-dozen chickens. That’s what people know us as. I’m the egg girl at most of the farmers markets.
I would imagine you have more than a half-dozen? We have around 200.
Is there a local restaurant you would recommend? When people come to town, I recommend Calamity Jane’s.
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I have two different-colored eyes, just like David Bowie.
