NORTH AURORA – A former North Aurora resident has been sentenced to prison for sexually preying on a child he knew, according to a news release from the Kane County State's Attorney's Office.

Darrell E. Beck, 46, of the 3300 block of Boulder Ridge Drive, Champaign, was sentenced Tuesday by Kane County Associate Judge Clint Hull to 10 years in prison. He was convicted in January of one count of predatory criminal sexual assault, a Class X felony.

According to the Kane County State's Attorney's Office, Beck had sexual contact with a young boy he knew between Oct. 24, 2006, and June 26, 2007. The boy was younger than 13 during the assault.

The assault took place at Beck’s North Aurora home when Beck was a foster parent to the victim. Since then, Beck has been living in Champaign.

Beck must serve at least 85 percent of the sentence, according to state law. Beck was given credit for at least 68 days served in the Kane County jail.
