In Focus: Rowing on the river

I spent much of the past few weeks on the Fox River, working on photos for Kane County Chronicle reporter Jonathan Bilyk’s recent series.

The series looked at the history and economy of the Fox River, as well as the recreational opportunities it offers.

By far, my favorite part of that project was looking into all of the recreational possibilities.

I am a self-proclaimed “water baby,” and I love everything about lakes, rivers, streams and pools.

Beyond the boating, kayaking, canoeing and fishing that take place on the Fox, there is now rowing on the river.

As part of this project, I had a chance to go in the coach’s boat during a training session with the newly formed St. Charles Rowing Club.

It was a beautiful night to be on the river, and I was glad to showcase one more perk to having such an awesome resource in our backyard.
