North Aurora hires new village administrator

NORTH AURORA – The Village Board on Monday hired a new village administrator.

Trustees unanimously approved a four-year contract for Steven Bosco, who is currently the assistant to the village administrator in Bartlett. He is set to start Aug. 5, after his wife delivers their first child later this month.

"His wife is supposed to deliver on July 14," North Aurora Village President Dale Berman said. "We just felt it was better that he starts a couple of weeks after it is all over."

Bosco replaces former North Aurora village administrator Wes Kornowske, who resigned in August to take a position with a national trucking company in Green Bay, Wis. North Aurora Police Chief David Summer has been serving as the interim administrator.

Bosco lives in Aurora. His starting salary will be $97,000.

Berman, along with village trustees Mark Gaffino and Ryan Lambert, interviewed Bosco. There were 45 candidates for the job.

"I think he has good experience," Berman said. "He was looking for the opportunity to work with a new community. He came with good recommendations."

Bosco has a master's degree in public administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb and a bachelor's degree from Elmhurst College. Berman already has a list of tasks he would like Bosco to work on once he starts.

"We have plenty of projects for him to work on," Berman said. "We received a $100,000 grant to redo our comprehensive plan. I also want to do a strategic plan for the village."
