Cougars to welcome country music star

GENEVA – The Kane County Cougars will welcome country music star Sara Evans for a concert at 6 p.m. Aug. 4 at the Music Garden at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark.

Tickets – which start at $30 for lawn seating and are $40 for reserved seating, and are $60 for VIP seating – are on sale at the Cougars box office, and can be ordered online at kccougars.com or by calling 630-232-8811. Gates open at 5 p.m, and there is no baseball game on the day of the concert.

Evans is a Missouri native who has garnered numerous accolades in the music industry, including the Academy of Country Music’s female vocalist honor in 2006 and the Country Music Association’s Video of the Year prize for “Born to Fly.” She’s been named one of People magazine’s “50 Most Beautiful People.”

Evans will be on tour to promote her latest album, titled “Stronger.” Some of Evans’ top songs include “No Place That Far,” “Born to Fly” and “Suds in the Bucket.” Evans was the first country music star to appear on the TV show “Dancing with the Stars.”

“We’re thrilled to welcome Sara Evans for what will surely be a fantastic evening of music at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark,” Cougars general manager Curtis Haug said in a statement. “Located within the stadium grounds, our new music garden will be an ideal midsized concert and event setting while welcoming many visitors to Geneva.

“We are particularly appreciative of the Forest Preserve District of Kane County and the city of Geneva for their support of this initiative, and look forward to many great events held here.”

American English, a popular Beatles tribute band, will perform at the Cougars music garden from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Aug. 10 before the 6:30 p.m. Cougars game that day. A Cougars game ticket provides admission for the concert that afternoon.

Gates will open at 3:30 p.m.
