Bob Beith, 70, of Elburn, reportedly fell asleep at the wheel and flipped his SUV along Route 176 in Crystal Lake on Wednesday morning.

CRYSTAL LAKE – An SUV rolled over along Route 176 on Wednesday after the driver dozed off at the wheel.

Bob Beith, 70, of Elburn was traveling east on Route 176 in Crystal Lake when he said he fell asleep, hit a tree, and flipped his Ford Explorer.

Beith was able to crawl out the driver's-side window. He escaped with only minor scratches on his arms.

"I'm just happy I didn't hit anyone head-on," he said.

The vehicle was towed just before noon Wednesday, and traffic was moving steadily around the accident.
