Campton Hills resident Dennis Whitacre, 54, was shopping for tomatoes at Norton’s Produce in Campton Hills when he answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.
Where did you grow up? St. Paul, Minn.
Pets? Two boxers, Spike and Lucy
Who would play you in the movie of your life? Tom Hanks
First job? Detasseling corn in Nebraska when I was 14 or 15. I think it was the toughest job I had, too.
As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? Not sure I had an idea, but I’m director of sales for an electronics company.
A movie you’d recommend? “The Heat”
Favorite charity? St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in St. Charles
What game show would you be on? “Jeopardy”
Favorite local restaurant? Wok’n Fire, ZaZa’s Italian Steakhouse and Rox City Grill at Baker Hotel, all in St. Charles.
What is an interesting factoid about yourself? At almost 55 I’m still playing baseball [with] the Chicago Central Senior Men’s Baseball League on two teams, the Colt 45s and the Buzzards. I play shortstop.
