Police: Geneva man charged with DUI after hitting a parked car

GENEVA – A Geneva man was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene after police said he hit a parked car while driving in the wrong lane.

Kyle J. Devaney, 25, of the 2100 block of Williamsburg Avenue, Geneva, also was charged June 23 with driving with a blood-alcohol level greater than .08 percent, possession of drug paraphernalia, leaving the scene of a vehicle damage accident, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, illegal transportation of alcohol and a written warning for driving without insurance. 

According to the crash report, Devaney drove north on the 0-99 block of Bridgeport Lane 200 feet south of Williamsburg in the wrong lane and hit a parked car, a 2003 Mitsubishi Montero, head-on. 

A witness told police the driver of the 2003 Toyota Avalon – Devaney – backed up and left the scene, according to the report.

According to court records, Devaney is to appear in court Aug.  7.
