Face time with Melanie Welsh

Blackberry Township resident Melanie Welsh, 36, was biking with her family at Peck Farm Park in Geneva, when she answered 11 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? St. Mary’s, Pa.

Pets? I have a pet squirrel in the backyard. I call him Chippy, but the kids named him Sam.

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Madonna

First job? Paper girl

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? I wanted to be a trapeze artist in the circus, but I did not become that. I instead became a consultant.

A book you’d recommend? “Blacklash: How Obama and the Left Are Driving Americans to the Government Plantation,” by Deneen Borelli

Favorite charity? United Way

Do you play an instrument? A little piano

What game show would you be on? “Press Your Luck”

Favorite local restaurant? Zaza’s Italian Steakhouse in St. Charles

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I have been to all four Disney parks in the world: Florida, California, France and Japan. France was when I was in college, and Tokyo was when I was consulting for Nissan. In the France and Tokyo parks, the characters show their skin, and the parks serve alcohol. In the U.S. parks, they do not.
