Delnor Hospital ranked among best in region, state

GENEVA – Cadence Health’s Delnor Hospital has been ranked the 22nd best hospital in the Chicago region and the 25th in the state by U.S. News and World Report.

The hospital also was ranked high-performing in four specific areas – geriatrics, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, and orthopedics. The annual U.S. News Best Hospitals rankings, now in their 24th year, recognize hospitals that excel in treating the most challenging patients.

“A hospital that emerges from our analysis as one of the best has much to be proud of,” said Avery Comarow, U.S. News health rankings editor, in a news release. “Only about 15 percent of hospitals are recognized for their high performance as among their region’s best. Just 3 percent of all hospitals earn a national ranking in any specialty.”

Delnor was not ranked last year. U.S. News publishes its Best Hospitals rankings to help guide patients who need a high level of care because they face particularly difficult surgery, a challenging condition or added risk because of other health problems or age.

Cadence Health’s Central DuPage Hospital in Winfield was ranked the eighth best hospital in the Chicago region and state. In addition, CDH’s orthopaedic program was ranked 22nd in the country, after being ranked 26th last year. This is the fifth time in seven years it has been ranked nationally.

“To have both Cadence Health hospitals ranked among the best in the region and the state underscores the commitment by the hospitals’ physicians, nurses and staff to deliver high-quality, compassionate care to patients in Chicago’s western suburbs,” said Mike Vivoda, Cadence Health’s president and chief executive officer, in the release. “The rankings result from a rigorous analysis of patient outcomes and care processes, and we are proud that both CDH and Delnor have achieved this honor.”
