NORTH AURORA – The village has bought a message and directional board that will be used to promote events and alert motorists of construction work.

North Aurora village trustees Monday voted to buy the board for $13,125. The sign will be used for the North Aurora Days summer festival, which will be from Aug. 2 to 4.

“It’s a great tool for us,” North Aurora Public Works Superintendent Mike Glock said.

Glock said the sign can be used for special events, such as North Aurora Days and the North Aurora Community Parade. In addition, the sign will add safety and help direct traffic around construction work being done on roadways, such as Randall Road, Oak Street and Route 31.

The unit, which is portable, also could be used in the future for speed radar and to collect other traffic data, Glock said.
