GENEVA – Several cars in Geneva were targeted by vandals and burglars, according to recent police reports.
Geneva Police Cmdr. Julie Nash said the department encourages citizens to not leave valuables in their vehicles.
“If they should have to keep valuables within their vehicles, then they are encouraged to secure them in the trunk,” Nash said.
The windows of a 2010 vehicle and 2002 vehicle parked in the 1000 block of Brentwood Place were reported broken. Both were locked.
A black and gray Coach bag containing credit cards and $10 was taken from one, and the other had a wallet stolen, which was left in the console cup holder, according to reports.
A landscaping brick was believed to have been used to break both windows to get into the cars, reports said.
In the 800 block of Foxwood Circle, a global positioning device valued at $500 was reported stolen from a 2010 van; a stereo faceplate of unknown value was taken from a 2009 vehicle; and a stereo of unknown value was reported stolen from the trunk of a 2006 vehicle.
In the 800 block of Longmeadow Drive, the front passenger side of a 2002 car was broken with a landscape brick to steal a wallet that had been left in the car.
And in the 1100 block of Hill Road, the front passenger side window of a 2008 vehicle was reported shattered – causing $400 in damage – in order to take a $15 iPod cable.
A $2,000 laptop computer was reported stolen Monday, July 8, from a 2012 vehicle in the 1900 block of Fargo Boulevard. Also taken was a black canvas briefcase and cell phone valued at $175.
All but the last incident were reported to have taken place July 7.
