Maple Park resident Joan Vidlak, 70, was at the Quilt and Textile Show in Batavia when she answered eight questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? West Chicago

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Meryl Streep

First job? Baby-sitting

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A nurse missionary. God has a sense of humor. I had six daughters, so I ended up being that anyway.

A book you’d recommend? Non-fiction books on the Amish

Favorite charity? Teen Missions International

Favorite local restaurant? Sorrento’s in Maple Park

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I used to run a catering business, and I catered a party in St. Charles that was for quarterback Jim McMahon when the Bears won the Super Bowl. This couple won a bid for him to be there for dinner as part of a charity fundraiser.
