Face Time with Phyllis Holstead

Batavia resident Phyllis Holstead, 83, was at the Quilt and Textile Show in Batavia when she answered nine questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Aurora

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Phyllis Diller

First job? Working in the hospital laundry at 12 years old at the old St. Joe’s Hospital in Aurora for $1.85 a day.

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A mom, and yes, I became a mom.

A book you’d recommend? “Under the Dome” by Stephen King

Favorite charity? American Cancer Society, and I volunteer at the Batavia Depot Museum.

What game show would you be on? “Wheel of Fortune”

Favorite local restaurant? Tusk Thai in Batavia

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I’ve been to Norway three times. My second husband was from Norway. He came here when he was 3 years old.
