GENEVA – A former Geneva man was charged with felony criminal damage to property in connection with damaging an apartment door’s dead bolt and shattering the glass sliding door, according to police reports.
Paul A. Yates, 37, of the 2000 block of West Illinois Avenue, Aurora, also was charged July 18, with destroying property at an apartment in the 2100 block of Pepper Valley Drive, and misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia. He is being held in the Kane County Jail on $10,000 bail and is set to appear in court Aug. 15.
The felony charge carries a penalty of one to three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
The misdemeanor has a penalty of up to a year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
Earlier the same week, Yates was charged July 15 with disorderly conduct and public intoxication, according to Geneva police reports.
