U.S. Rep. Peter Roskam, R-Wheaton, released the following statement on the July unemployment report:
“Three years after the president’s so-called ‘recovery summer,’ our economy is still frail and growth stagnant. The July unemployment report came out with hiring lower than what many analysts expected. The slow pace of hiring growth and more and more people simply leaving the labor force paints a bleak picture. Meanwhile, the president continues to prescribe more of the same: bigger government, higher taxes and more spending. It’s clear the president’s speeches do not create jobs.
“House Republicans will continue to push a growth agenda: empowering the American people, reforming our tax code for individuals and businesses to increase competitiveness and delaying the president’s health care law to provide relief for everyone. With the right policies, we can once again have an opportunity economy that helps all Americans.”
