Almora lands on DL with groin injury
Cougars center fielder Albert Almora on Tuesday was placed on the 7-day disabled list with a groin injury. The move was retroactive to Aug. 5.
Almora, 19, a first-round pick of the parent Cubs in 2012, was leading the Cougars with a .329 batting average and .376 on-base percentage. He has three home runs and 23 RBIs in 61 games.
Almora broke the hamate bone in his left hand during spring training. He was targeted to begin the season in Kane County but joined the club May 22.
