ST. CHARLES – St. Charles North High School graduate Devin Kelly was presented $3,000 at the Pottawatomie Garden Club’s meeting in July for his outstanding high school accomplishments and desire to pursue an education in environmental and natural resources engineering.

Kelly maintained a 5.0 grade-point-average and was an active participant in the National Honor Society. In the fall, Kelly will be attending the Purdue University College of Agriculture.

According to a news release, Kelly plans to focus on minimizing the effects of acid rain, addressing global climate change, automobile emissions and the protection of wildlife.

“I believe a quality environment is essential for maintaining good health, while also allowing people to enjoy and participate in their physical environment,” Kelly said in the release.

The garden club’s annual scholarship is awarded to a St. Charles student who is interested in higher education relating to horticulture studies.

Applications are reviewed in the spring. For more information, visit www.pottagardenclub.org.
