Absolute Music Academy moved from three lesson rooms and a recording studio on West State Street to fill nine suites at 611 E. State St., becoming an anchor for that property.

GENEVA – After two successful years at 2061/2 W. State St. in Geneva, Absolute Music Academy recently moved to become the new anchor of 611 E. State St., Geneva, filling nine suites.

Owner Jacob Fairbank of Geneva, 37, a 1994 graduate of Geneva High School plays guitar and piano and got into producing music professionally.

“It kind of just spun into a business,” Fairbank said. “I built the studio for myself and thought it would be cool to have a school.”

The space he rented on the second floor of the Denim Loft became three classrooms and a recording studio. It worked out well, he said, but the school grew to 40 students, and he needed more space.

The new West State Street location has eight lesson rooms, a lesson lab and two recording studios – one for professionals and one for students – with more space for just about everything, Fairbank said.

Fairbank said he invested $50,000 in infrastructure upgrades of electronics and recording equipment for the students.

Annette LaTart of Real Estate Consultants Inc., Barrington, negotiated Fairbank’s three-year lease as the new anchor tenant for the building.

LaTart said the new space provides more room and ease for parking and student pickup and dropoff areas.

Being on the second floor in Geneva’s downtown made parking tricky, LaTart said. The new location has ample parking, she said.
