Sound off: Ridiculous noise

(Continued from Page 1)

The following is what our readers sounded off about this week:

Ridiculous noise I recently had the opportunity to attend the Sugar Grove Corn Boil. What a great family event. Hats off to all the people in Sugar Grove who are a part of this annual event. However, I do have one complaint. The noise that nowadays is purported to be music was awful. It is loud to the point of hurting one's ears, and it is difficult to understand what is supposedly being said. Were they speaking English? What part of louder is not better don't they understand? Same thing with wedding receptions. Ridiculous.

Truly my angel I want to give a shout out to the Baginski Dentistry Office. I lost a crown on closed hours, on my way to work. I was leaving for out of town on the following morning at 7 a.m. I made one call to the office, got a return call within 15 minutes, and the crown was put into place within two hours. Thanks, Dr. Steve. You are truly my angel.

You don't have my vote So, Batavia wants to build a state-of-the-art athletic center for the high school. Yet an elementary school doesn't have enough classrooms and is having to put music and art on carts. But the state-of-the-art athletic center is very important. For education? I don't think so. Maybe this needs to be reconsidered. I would pass a referendum to add more classrooms, but never for a state-of-the-art athletic center. You don't have my vote for that.

Those killings don't matter We are all upset about the Martin shooting in Florida. But why aren't people put out about the [more than 70] shootings in Chicago over the Fourth of July? Nobody cared. Where was Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson or words from Obama when 12 of those people died. As long as it was black-on-black shooting, I guess that was OK. Thank goodness Zimmerman was only half-white. Please, President Obama, walk down the south side of Chicago at 1 a.m., without your tons of security. Just walk, wearing a hoodie and take your chances. Lots of luck. It wouldn't have to be 30 years ago. It could be today. Come on, Sharpton, Jackson and Obama, take care of your own backyard before trying so hard to divide an entire nation. I guess the killings in Chicago don't mean too much to your own neighborhood or to their lives.

It's not an arch The River Street arch in Batavia is not an arch. It is a circle on its side, a halo, a headband, but not an arch. The St. Louis arch is an arch. Why couldn't they have done something like that? They wouldn't have needed those ugly supports that truly detract from an already inappropriate design. This is the kind of boondoggle that makes taxpayers cynical. Batavia city fathers, you really blew this one.

No free rides Illegal immigrants keep reminding us that America is and always has been a melting pot for immigrants. The trouble is too many bad apples spoil the pot. And that is what is happening with these illegal parasites. Land of the free does not mean a free ride for everybody.

Think about it before you demolish So, the First Baptist Church, not a tear down. Let the new owner decide. Several churches in Batavia have been remodeled and are being used and are Batavia history. Additions built in the 1930s and 1950s could be removed, but the original structure is unique. Think about it.

Not really fun I was very disturbed today while looking through the Geneva Park District fall catalog by one of their “fun” Halloween activities.  It is a class about potions, elixirs and other magical mixers. I don’t see they can make light of something so serious. Kids will get the idea that witchcraft is just a game. Just like Harry Potter and Dungeons and Dragons, this fun class will lure kids into a dark and twisted lifestyle. It all seems harmless till the animal sacrifices start.

Pick up after your big dogs Hey people of St. Charles, especially on the east side of St. Charles, start picking up your big dogs' poop. I am tired of seeing it on my driveway and on my sidewalk. I have a small dog, but not the big poop that I keep picking up all the time. I am tired of picking up big poop. Start learning, people. The dogs are probably smarter than you are.
