Cubs outfield prospect Trevor Gretzky – son of former NHL superstar Wayne – has been promoted from Short-A Boise to the Cougars, he tweeted Tuesday.
Gretzky, 20, batted .256 in 27 games with Boise this season, collecting three doubles and six RBIs.
He hit .304 in 35 games in 2012 after the Cubs selected him in the seventh round of the 2011 draft out of high school in California.
The Cougars are off Tuesday before beginning a three-game road trip to Burlington Wednesday. They return to Geneva for a seven-game homestand Saturday night.
