Fall Ball

Normally, on the first day of high school football practices, I have to steel myself for the suffocating heat, grab my several bottles of water and savor every possible moment in my air conditioned car before trekking to the fields.

This past Wednesday, though, was a dream. Temperatures barely reached 70 degrees as I pulled up to St. Charles East's practice fields around 8 a.m.

I know the players appreciated the cooler weather, even though I'm sure they still sweated up a storm as they ran several sprints and up-down exercises during the conditioning portion of their practice.
