AURORA – The West Aurora School District 129 Board is seeking participation from the community as it conducts a search to find a replacement for West Aurora School Superintendent James Rydland, who will retire in June.
The board has contracted with School Exec Connect, a superintendent search firm, to assist with the process, according to a news release from the West Aurora School District.
The firm has scheduled a number of information-gathering sessions and developed a Web-based survey to help it determine what constituents believe are the school district’s strengths and challenges, as well as the qualities and characteristics that the next superintendent should possess to be successful in the community.
School Exec Connect will hold three open forums to obtain input from the community:
• 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at West High Cafeteria, 1201 W. New York St., Aurora. (Spanish translation will be available)
• 7 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Jewel Middle School Cafeteria, 1501 Waterford Road, North Aurora
• 7 to 8 p.m. Sept. 12 at Washington Middle School Cafeteria, 231 S. Constitution Drive, Aurora
Community members also will have the opportunity to take an anonymous survey on the District’s website, www.sd129.org.
This feedback will be collected through Sept. 13 and will be used to construct a leadership profile of the next superintendent.
