Flood advisory issued for Kane County

Kane County is under a flood advisory until 5:30 p.m. today, according to the National Weather Service.

Thunderstorms with heavy rainfall have been detected by radar throughout northeast and north central Illinois. Periods of heavy rain are expected to continue over parts of the area this afternoon.

Runoff from excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding, especially along small streams near low-water crossings. Some locations that may experience minor flooding include Batavia, Geneva, St. Charles, Elburn, Maple Park, North Aurora, Elgin and Aurora.

The National Weather Service reported that as of 11:42 a.m., two inches of rain had fallen across the flood advisory area this morning.

An additional inch or two possible for parts of the advisory area, which includes eastern DeKalb County, extreme northeastern LaSalle County, Grundy County, Kendall County and northeastern Livingston County.
