Into the Storm: Be careful, heat can be deadly

This week I need to talk about the heat wave. Well, as I said in winter, the summer would be backloaded with heat! Enjoy the day, but stay safe and hydrated.

We will have heat indexes over 105 in areas. Temps will be in the upper 90s. West out my way in the corn belt, our dewpoints are upper 70s – the corn put more in the air so we feel the humidity way worse than those 10 miles east of me. Just stay safe and inside.

This is a deadly heat wave, or it can be. After today, we'll have two days of mid 80s, but then it will be back to the 90s for the weekend. My safety advice is stay indoors with A/C, stay hydrated (especially if you're outside), take breaks and make sure to check on family and friends. If they dont have A/C, invite them to your place.

Being that it's been a cool summer so far, this heat is a shock to our bodies. As I said, the corn out this way pushes more water into the atmosphere. The allergy reports also show counts of 53,000/meteric meter. The alert level is 50,000, so we are over that. Allergy sufferers, please take caution and stay indoors.
