ST. CHARLES – St. Charles police officers charged three motorists with driving under the influence during a two-week traffic enforcement period that ended Monday, according to a St. Charles Police Department news release.
The safety campaign was done in cooperation with and funded by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
In addition to the DUI arrests, police arrested one person on a warrant, issued 28 citations for seat belt violations, ticketed six for driving without insurance and cited 17 for speeding.
Police also issued five citations and 28 warnings for other violations.
The initiative was part of a statewide program to reduce the number of traffic fatalities.
