Cougars to award 'Ozzie's Scholars' scholarships

GENEVA – The Kane County Cougars announced a series of “Ozzie’s Scholars” scholarships to be awarded to both current and former members of Ozzie’s Reading Club, the organization’s reading incentive program that is now open to schools for the 2013-14 academic year.

Scholarship applicants are encouraged to submit an essay, no longer than 400 words, that focuses on the benefits of reading and its positive influence in their daily lives, such as schoolwork, hobbies and summer jobs. As many as 10 total recipients will receive up to a $1,000 scholarship from the Cougars organization, in each of the following categories:

• Current kindergarteners through second-grade students

• Current third-grade students through fifth-grade students

• Current sixth-grade students through eighth-grade students

• Current high school students

• Current college students

Those interested can go to www.kccougars.com and download an application form. A completed application and essay can be mailed to the Cougars at Kane County Cougars Attn: Ozzie Scholars, 34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva, IL 60134.
