ST. CHARLES – The St. Charles Park Board on Tuesday officially approved Holly Cabel as the park district’s director, effective immediately.

Cabel served as the district’s superintendent of recreation for eight years, assistant superintendent of recreation for five years and recreation supervisor for four years.

“The park district’s staff is its most valuable asset. Among them, we are fortunate to have found a natural leader in Holly Cabel,” park board President Karrsten Goettel said in a news release.

Cabel said in the release she is honored by the appointment.

“The park district is a passion of mine,” she said. “It is nationally recognized for its exceptional parks, programs and services. I am honored to serve as director and am excited to continue to work with staff, the park board and the St. Charles community.”

Cabel has lived in St. Charles for more than 30 years. She and her husband have three boys.
