Rutherford on 9/11 anniversary: 'Keep the fallen heroes and victims in our prayers'

Illinois State Treasurer Dan Rutherford, also a gubernatorial candidate, issued the following statement on the anniversary of 9/11"

“On the 12th anniversary of one of America’s darkest days I ask that we remember the sacrifices that were made on 9/11,” Treasurer Dan Rutherford said.

On Sept. 11, 2001, nearly 3,000 people died in the attacks in New York, Washington and Pennsylvania. Since then the National September 11 Memorial has been established as a tribute of remembrance and honor to the victims.

“This day is difficult for the family and friends of those we lost, and for the entire country,” Rutherford said. “I ask that we in Illinois keep the fallen heroes and victims in our prayers.”
