ST. CHARLES – With the St. Charles North High School homecoming parade set for Friday afternoon, the St. Charles Police Department encourages motorists to use alternate routes and to be mindful of temporary parking restrictions.

The parade route follows Illinois Street from Sixth Street to Second Avenue in St. Charles. It is set to begin at 1 p.m.

The following street closures will be in effect from 12:45 to about 1:45 p.m.:

• Illinois Street will be closed between Seventh Street and Third Avenue.

• Second Street – also known as Route 31 – will close as the parade crosses Second Street.

A detour route for Route 31 will be posted and use West Main, Seventh and Prairie streets. Trucks using Route 31 will be directed to Randall Road.

Parking will be restricted on the detour and parade routes as well as the parade staging area. Restrictions will be in place on South Second and Third avenues; South Sixth Street between Main and Indiana streets; and Walnut Street between Seventh and Fifth streets.

Motorists are urged to use care and to watch for pedestrians. Police and emergency management personnel will provide traffic assistance at key intersections.
