Marmion homecoming festivities start Saturday

AURORA – The community is invited to help kick off Marmion Academy’s homecoming week with a block party at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at the school’s campus located at 1000 Butterfield Road in Aurora.

Events begin with a parade/pep rally at 6:30 p.m., followed by the lighting of the bonfire at 7:30 p.m. The evening concludes with a fireworks display at 9:30 p.m. Wristbands are being sold for unlimited access to all the interactive inflatables ($10 in advance at www.marmion.org/homecoming or $12 at the door).

Also, there will be a Fay's BBQ event from 4:30 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at the school. Tickets should be purchased in advance at www.marmion.org/fays. There will be limited sales at the door. All proceeds from the dinner benefit the Fine Arts Boosters.

On Friday, Sept. 27 is Marmion’s homecoming football game. The Marmion Cadets will take on the Montini Catholic Broncos at Marmion’s Fichtel Field. The Sophomore game begins at 5:15 p.m., followed by the varsity game at 7:30 p.m. Halftime festivities include the presentation of the 2013 homecoming court and the Junior Reserve Officer Training Corps Pass-in-Review.

Students from Marmion Academy and Rosary High School will wrap up the week on Saturday, Sept. 28 at a homecoming celebration at Funway in Batavia.
