Court rescheduled in Gaffey case

ST. CHARLES – Kye D. Gaffey, the former superintendent of Illinois Prison Schools, and his wife, Jennifer, 42, are to appear in Kane County Branch Court next month on misdemeanor charges of criminal trespass and criminal damage to property.

The couple filed court papers Thursday, setting a new court date for Oct. 3.

The Gaffeys, of Sterling, were charged Aug. 15 in connection with an incident at her ex-husband’s house in St. Charles. According to police reports, a neighbor reported the Gaffeys were inside the house while the family was away on vacation.

Kye Gaffey had said they never went inside, but were looking in the window to document the living conditions of his wife’s 6-year-old son.

Gaffey was terminated from his $110,244-a-year position shortly after his arrest, officials said.
