GENEVA – A Geneva man was charged with felony unlawful restraint after he reportedly blocked his estranged wife from leaving their house, according to police reports.
Jeffrey L. Modjeski, 32, of the 1000 block of Westfield Course, also was charged Sept. 1 with four counts of misdemeanor domestic battery.
The felony carries a penalty of one to three years in prison and a fine of up to $25,000.
The misdemeanors carry a penalty of one year in jail and a fine of up to $2,500.
Modjeski posted $350 bond or 10 percent of $3,500 bail.
He is to appear in court Oct. 16.
According to police reports, Modjeski’s wife came to their house to take custody of their children and get some of her personal things in their bedroom.
Modjeski allegedly blocked her from leaving the bedroom, then when she got past him anyway, he
allegedly blocked her path in the hallway with his body and by extending his arms.
She fell down a stairway in an effort to get away from him, according to reports.
She picked up a crying child and tried to get away from him and fell, both hitting their heads and elbows, according to reports.
