Face Time with Monica Kratohvil

West Chicago resident Monica Kratohvil was working at Scentimental Gardens in Geneva when she answered 10 questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Al Lagattolla.

Where did you grow up? I grew up in Des Plaines.

Do you have any pets? I have a chocolate lab, Cooper.

Is there a book you would recommend? “The Gargoyle” by Andrew Davidson. Love, love, love.

As a kid what did you want to be when you grew up? A lawyer. I am completely happy where I am right now.

What was your first job? Brown’s Chicken

Do you have a favorite charity? Anything to do with children

What is your favorite local restaurant? ZaZa’s in St. Charles

Do you speak another language? I speak German. My parents are German, and shortly after we lived in Des Plaines, moved to Germany for a while. It was actually my first language.

What’s the best thing about working at Scentimental Gardens? I love the people I work with. I love the people who come in to shop. It’s just a pleasant place to be.

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? People underestimate me because I’m quiet.
