To the Editor:
A nation’s behavior is similar to that of a person. The seven deadly sins (pride, greed, gluttony, sloth, lust, envy and wrath) apply to an individual, as well as his country.
It appears our tendency to enter warfare is usually due to our inability to avoid most of the deadly sins, particularly pride.
President Eisenhower warned us to avoid the perils of embracing the military-industrial complex of our nation. Weapons of war are coveted by the military, and industry gladly produces them.
Our finer instincts should tell us to beware of Syria.
