Face Time with James Stephens

South Elgin resident James Stephens, 70, was at Art in Your Eye in Batavia when he answered eight questions for the Kane County Chronicle’s Brenda Schory.  

Where did you grow up? Chicago

Pets? A German shorthair pointer named Stone and an English labrador retriever named Sam

Who would play you in the movie of your life? Paul Newman

As a kid, what did you want to be when you grew up? A fireman. Ultimately, I retired as assistant superintendent of the Fox River Water Reclamation District.

A movie you’d recommend? “To Kill a Mockingbird”

Favorite charity? Shriners Hospitals for Children

Favorite local restaurant? Stockholm’s in Geneva

What is an interesting factoid about yourself? I lived two doors down from a very famous married couple of international artists, who drew cartoon portraits of all the presidents from Truman to Johnson.
