Cars burglarized in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES – Various items, including a navigation unit and headphones, were reported stolen this week from vehicles burglarized in St. Charles, according to St. Charles police reports.

The first theft was reported Saturday by the owner of a 2011 vehicle in the 0-100 block of Southgate Court.

Two 5-pound fire extinguishers attached to the side of the truck were taken overnight, police reported.

The items were valued at $40 each.

Sunday, burglaries affected two cars.

A stereo face plate was reported stolen from an unlocked 1997 Chevrolet on the fourth level of the parking deck at 100 Illinois Street.

The glove box and center console also were ransacked, police reported.

In the 1400 block of King James Avenue, a $900 laptop and charger, $30 headphones, $20 iPhone charger, $40 backpack, and three calculators with a total value of $100 were reported stolen from a 2006 vehicle.

The owner told police he must have forgotten to lock the hatch door.

Monday, police received reports of two other burglaries to unlocked vehicles.

A cellphone charger, emergency glass breaker and navigation unit were reported stolen from a 2004 vehicle in the 1300 block of Elm Street.

The value of the items was estimated at $65.

And about $1,260 in belongings – including an iPod, headphones and iPad – were reported stolen from a 2008 Cadillac in the 800 block of Ridings Lane.
