North Aurora man charged in bicycle crash

A North Aurora man has been charged in a crash Tuesday that has left a bicyclist with possible life-threatening injuries.

Jeffrey Krabec, 25, of the 600 block of Pinewood Drive, North Aurora, has been charged with failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident. Richard Adams, 61, of Aurora was airlifted to Good Samaritan Hospital in Downers Grove with possible life-threatening injuries to his head and mid-abdominal area, police said.

Aurora police spokesman Dan Ferrelli said Wednesday afternoon the bicyclist is alive.

At the time of the crash about 7:30 a.m., both were headed eastbound on Sullivan Road, about 200 feet west of Route 25, Ferrelli said.

“The bicyclist was hit from behind and launched into the air on impact,” he said.

The crash occurred on the stretch of Sullivan Road that is near North Aurora.
