ST. CHARLES – Marmion used balanced scoring to defeat Wheaton Academy, 164-172, on Tuesday in a Suburban Christian Conference dual.
Medalist Luke Hoss (39) and Joe Fritz (41) paced the Cadets. Lately, Marmion’s fourth or fifth scorer Hoss emerged with a big day to boost the Cadets at St. Charles Country Club.
Grant Gosden (41) and Zack Spear (42) led the Warriors.
“Playing at St. Charles Country Club, it’s an excellent venue,” Wheaton Academy coach Scott Broman said. “We had a wonderful time playing out there. We learned a lot from this match, and we’re just going to move on from there.”
Kaneland 155, Morris 171: At Morris Country Club, medalist Brody Kuhar shot 37 for Kaneland, while Matt Yonkovich (38) and Jesse Denton (39) also registered rounds in the 30s.
Geneva 151, St. Charles North 153: At Mill Creek in Geneva, medalist Nate Desens carded a 36 to lift Geneva in the Upstate Eight Conference River Division dual. Alex Schreiber (40) and Matt Fisher (41) followed.
Brad Riva was the top Saints scorer with a 37, while Connor McCadam and Connor Dieckman both shot 38.
Batavia 2, Streamwood 0 (25-11, 25-11): At Batavia, Audrey Faulhaber dished nine assists for Batavia (9-9, 2-1 UEC River), as Heather Meyer (eight kills) and Shea Stanley (seven) guided the attack.
Wheaton Academy 3, Geneva 0: At West Chicago, Wheaton Academy improved to 9-2 behind two goals from Grant Rougas and one from Jake Hoepner. Goalkeeper Jose Mozden made 11 saves for 4-5 Geneva.
Kaneland 3, Rochelle 1: At Rochelle, Arsim Azemi scored off an Ignacio Toscano throw-in – the second goal and assist for both in the match – to give Kaneland (4-4-2, 1-1-1 Northern Illinois Big 12 East) the final margin. Anthony Parillo opened the scoring for the Knights.
Burlington Central 3, Genoa-Kingston 0: At Burlington, Alan Camarena, AJ Gouriotis and Paolo Sespene tallied for Central (9-1, 6-0 Big Northern Conference East), which has won seven in a row. Brett Rau made three saves for the shutout.
Chicago Christian 5, Aurora Central Catholic 1: At Palos Heights, ACC’s David Petech converted a second-half penalty kick.
Kaneland 4, Morris 1: At Maple Park, Kaneland swept doubles play to improve to 7-2 in duals. Mallory Dugan and Kaylee Shoaff were 6-2, 6-1 winners in the No. 3 slot.
St. Francis 3, Rosary 2: At Aurora, St. Francis’ Ava Kolman won at No. 1 singles, but the dual was decided at doubles, where each match went to three sets. Rosary’s Andrea Goyao and Megan Conlin were 2-6, 6-1, 6-2 winners in the No. 1 slot.
Aurora Central Catholic 5, Walther Lutheran 0: At Aurora, ACC yielded just seven games combined in the SCC dual.
St. Charles North 97, Wheaton Co-op 89: At St. Charles, North’s Kristen Kowaleski was part of two winning relay swims – 1:55:59 in the 200-yard medley relay and 1:42:54 in the 200 freestyle relay – in addition to having a strong individual night. Kowaleski’s other victories included a time of 25.59 in the 50 freestyle.
Monica Guyett and Grace Samuelson also were part of the winning 200 free relay while combining for four individual victories, as well.
