BATAVIA – An Aurora woman has been charged with taking thousands of dollars from the Batavia company where she worked.
Serhonda Burnett, 35, of the 1600 Shamrock Court, Aurora, has been charged with theft by deception between $10,000 and $100,000, misappropriation of financial institution property and use of a credit or debit card with intent to defraud.
She had worked at PMI Energy, a trucking company at 1890 Suncast Lane in Batavia.
Charges were authorized Sept. 3, and Burnett was arrested Sept. 18. She posted a $7,500 bond and has an Oct. 15 court date.
According to court records, the allegations took place between Dec. 27, 2012, and June 27, 2013.
The charges include knowingly embezzling $32,069 from PMI Energy, funds that entrusted to the custody or care of First Community Financial Bank.
Burnett also is being charged with misuse of an American Express card having a total value of more than $150.
