SUGAR GROVE – The death of a 25-year-old Sugar Grove man found Thursday morning at the Bliss Woods Forest Preserve was an apparent suicide attempt, an official from the Forest Preserve District of Kane County said.

Laurie Metanchuk, the forest preserve's director of community affairs, said the man was found with a gunshot wound to the head, and a gun was found next to him at Bliss Woods, which is at 5S660 Bliss Road in Sugar Grove Township. She said the incident is being treated as an "apparent suicide attempt."

She said the man was taken to a DuPage County hospital, and that his name was not being released. She said she later learned that the man had died.
